Biography:
After banging on pots and pans as a toddler, Josh was placed behind a kit by his parents to perform with them. By age three, his talent was evident as his early performances included the infamous “Wipe Out”. His dad taught him the swing, rock, and two beat., and that was all it took; he was hooked. He became a musical addict and at age13 he won his first Mars Music hot sticks challenge. When he entered high school he did everything he could to grow musically, earning 1st chair with dozens of honor groups including four Missouri All-State Jazz/ Concert Bands, and the Midwestern All-Star Jazz Ensemble. Josh realized that his talent would not develop if he didn’t move on from his small home town; his destination: Belmont University, Nashville, TN.
Within the first week of school at Belmont, Josh was grateful to receive the honor of being selected as the first freshmen in the history of the school to be invited into the Jazz Ensemble. The following week he walked into Guitar center’s 2004 Nashville Drum Off Competition as a confident 19 year old and won. By the end of his first semester at Belmont, he decided to leave and pursue a career as a full time musician.
Josh is currently doing sessions and playing live for many artists from the Nashville area. Some of his credits include playing with: Steven Curtis Chapman, Nichole Nordeman, Bebo Norman, Dave Barnes, Florez, Matt Wertz, Starfield, David Ryan Harris and Bethany Dillon. In the future he plans to continue touring and making records.
Robinson resides on the east side of Nashville with 7 roommates! He loves the Nashville scene, and when at home he acts as a producer and engineer for “Sunroom Studios”. Josh also enjoys his hobbies of golf and motorcycling in his time away from music.
