Shell

Welcome to the ground floor of drum tone-

A drum shell is the framework of a drum kit; the bones and canvas, at the same time. When striking a drumhead, sound waves will react according to the composition of the shell. Your shell is a primary component in establishing your sound.

Bearing edge

The smallest surface- makes the biggest difference-

The bearing edge is the contact point between your drum shell and drum head.  This area has everything to do with your drums voice.  This aspect of drum building requires immense detail and precision. We utilize our own method of cutting edges based on our experience both as players and builders.

Bearing Edge Options: Double 45 Degree     |     Round Over     |     30 Degree     |     Single 45 Degree

Lug

Where function and style converge-

Lugs are a way for your drums to stand out visually as well as functionally.  At Risen Drums we have designed and manufactured our own lug in order to help our drums uniqueness. The RD lug is created out of aluminum which keeps the weight of your drum lower. This lightweight design paired with our single point of contact to the shell, allows the drum to more naturally resonate, giving you more tone and tune-ability. In addition to the RD lug, we frequently work with other lug options, and there is a large variety in existence, just ask and we can help find the best fit for you.

Lug Options: Risen Lugs(Base Price)     |     Beavertail Lugs(+$50)     |     Tube Lugs(+$50)

In addition to the style of lug, there are many different finish options. All standard lugs are chrome, however, we can change your hardware to an array of glossed and flat colors, as well as multiple metal finishes. Colored Lugs (+$120)

Sonic Venting System

Sonic Venting System

SVS

The science of how drums breathe-

All drums need to allow air to escape from it, but more precisely, each drum needs to do this in a specific way. The amount of air leaving through a vent hole, controls your drum sound. After studying the way air moves on the inside of a drum after being hit, we have constructed our own method of venting drums in order to allow them to perform to their full potential, which we call the Sonic Venting System. It is the science of the appropriate amount of breathing.  We vent all of our drums using this method and it is what defines Risen Drums. In addition to the S.V.S. we can make custom vent holes in any shape or size desirable(+$50)

Finish

Finish

Finish

Sound worth seeing-

We have a multitude of finish options to choose from, with a focus on three main options that are completely customizable.

Satin Finish: (Base Price)

Our satin finish is a one-color stain applied to the shells. With this option the wood grain comes through. A satin finish is timeless, mature, and classy look, without being too flashy.

Color Options:
All colors are mixed in our shop. This means that any color, any shade is possible. We can either color match or work with you to create a unique custom color. The possibilities are endless, and each new order means a new batch of stain. One more step to assure your kit is as custom and one-of-a-kind as possible.

Hi Gloss Finish: (+$50)

The high gloss finish is any stained or painted finish that is buffed to become shiny. The sky is the limit here. With this option you can include fades, bursts, stripes or solids. You can add a logo, name or even your bands album art. Start dreaming because anything is possible. As with our satin kits, if you can dream a color we can create it for you.

Wrap Finish: (+$50)

The wrap finish is our most durable finish available. It is the perfect kit for the touring player who values excellent sound, design, and durability to withstand the brutality the road can dish out. Wrap kits mostly consist of the basic sparkles and glass glitters, but can also include many pearl colors or oyster finishes too. We wrap stripes, patterns or anything you can dream of.
